"Twice the Man (The Bete Book 3)" by Stephanie Barr - IHIBRP 4-Star Book Review

Irresistible & Impossible-To-Put-Down Sci-Fi!

Overview: The colony must persevere despite the abduction of some of the most powerful Bete and the loss of their powers. Meanwhile, the group as a whole is facing a brand new set of challenges threatening their survival, including the fact that all these issues must be resolved before nightfall.

Author Stephanie Barr pens an exciting conclusion to her Bete Book trilogy In “Twice the Man”, as she forces her young characters—Bete, human, and space cats alike—to grow up quickly and make some very difficult decisions in a highly limited time period. As with any group that is challenged, disagreements come up that can’t be settled despite the strongest loyalties and bonds. Rivalries, betrayals, conflicts, and clashes may force the group apart, but the entire landing party—space cats included—must finally find a way to come together and fight a common enemy if they want to survive to see another day.

From the beginning of The Bete Series to the end, Author Barr pens a creative, engaging, and oft-times humorous plotline as she acclimates her readers to her temperamental and driven animal-shifting Betes. Barr’s world-building skills, creative storyline, and unique characters make this an irresistible and exciting tale that’s impossible to put down.

Although entire sections of this specific chapter in The Bete Book Series—Twice the Man—are rather repetitive and drawn out due to separate characters expressing various points of view on the same situation, Barr does present insights and dispenses tidbits of new information along the way. I’ve personally had the pleasure of reading the two preceding books (Beast Within & Nine Lives) and find the entire series to be well worth the read. I highly recommend that “Twice the Man” be read sequentially as part of The Bete Book Series. This series is appropriate for anyone—ages 12 and up—who enjoys reading about animal shifters, space cats, and alien worlds.
