"Nothing But A Hound Dog: Klein’s K-9s Book 3 (Klein’s K-9s Service Dogs)" by Marcia James

A Heartwarming Yet Sexy Country Romance!

Overview: Karma lands stubborn loner and country music star, Ryan, in an animal shelter run by his former high school crush, but little does he know that back then, Cindy also had a thing for him. Even though they both tell themselves that all that’s now in the past, as their dedication to the staff and animals of the shelter draws them closer and closer together, the pair discovers that there's much more to their current relationship than they ever thought possible.

The plotline for this story is charming and simple, following the usual framework for a feel-good country romance complete with some intense romantic interactions, a few moral and ethical dilemmas, and finishing up with a somewhat (surprising/predictable) ending.

It is Marcia James’ well-written and well-conceived characters that put on the real charm in a romance that’s as laid back and comfortable as your favorite pair of faded old blue jeans. From the beginning of the story, Ryan and Cindy’s relationship is predictable, but it’s also a match made in romance heaven. Ryan, who at first comes across as a hard-drinking country singer and one-man wrecking crew, soon has his eyes trained on his new boss, beautiful girl-with-a-cause and pet shelter owner, Cindy. Romance brews as Cindy introduces this rowdy cowboy with a wild reputation to a life of selflessness and caring for one’s fellow beings—both human and animal.

I have to admit that I really enjoyed this romance story—After all, who wouldn’t love to read about an unexpected romantic relationship amid a kit and kaboodle of playful puppies and fluffy kittens frolicking in the background?

This read does contain adult situations and language. Readers who are sensitive to animal cruelty issues might flinch at some of the scenes depicted in this novel, but each situation is dealt with respectfully, realistically, and humanely with the moral and ethical implications adequately explained. I recommend “Nothing But a Hound Dog” as a perfect take-along or weekend romance read for ages 17 and up.

Congratulations to the author on this award-winning story! This novel will be permanently featured on my website at AuthorJBRichards.com under IHIBRP 5 Star Recommended Reads!
