A Terrifying and Bloody Read You Won’t Soon Forget!
"The Celtic Curse: Newgrange” is a macabre fantasy horror by D. J. Doyle that blends Irish folklore, myth, religion, ancient culture, and superstition. Doyle pushes boundaries and weaves a complex plotline packed with terror and suspense, forcing her characters to accept the unacceptable and assume risks no one ever dreamed they could handle. With a curious mix of fun-seeking college students, unorthodox academics, and shady goons, there is plenty of danger mixed in with sexual antics as information about the ancient Druids and their devious plans for the future is pieced together and meted out through investigative research, scholarly consulting, and past-life regressions.
Like many novels in this genre, Doyle’s tale expands on the barbarism of Druidic worship rather than its ties to Nature, resulting in plenty of blood and carnage, coarse language, and sexual content. The author’s writing contains grammatical errors, incomplete sentences, and misspellings, but the overall plotline is sound and manages to keep in line a maze of past-lives and alternative identities that could have anyone’s head swimming.
This story’s villains are despicable—if not a bit over the top—and the heroes are endearing, providing horror readers with a terrifying and bloody read they won’t soon forget. This book is recommended for ages 17 and up.
