An unusual rivalry and suspenseful love triangle develops when Luz becomes smitten with her benefactor—the pack's Alpha, Lucas. Believing that he can win Lucretia's love by demonstrating to her that the Alpha cannot possibly be the romantic partner she's looking for, Dom formulates an agreement with Luz to force Lucas’ jealousy with a pretend romance. It's at this point in the story that Author Whitewolf introduces a major danger factor into the plotline and begins to show her expertise at creating a twisted and edgy paranormal romance that will result in more than one individual getting gravely bitten.
The tense and chilling rivalry that Whitewolf conjures up between Alpha Lucas and his Beta, Dom, could not come at a worse time—Just as an all-out war breaks out against a rival pack trespassing on their border. Things escalate when both the rival pack leader and Lucretia’s ex-boyfriend threaten her safety, setting Lucas’ pack on high alert and causing mayhem among its members. The challenge for the author to keep the pack’s true identities hidden from Lucretia wanes as the plotline moves forward, but Whitewolf scores big on releasing their secret at just the right moment, causing panic and mayhem for everyone involved.
“First to Fall” is a steamy paranormal romance with bite. Readers will enjoy the riveting but sometimes comical interplay between Dom and Lucretia as they parade their newfound romantic relationship before her concerned patron, Lucas. Drawing heavily on folklore and influences from various international cultures to explain the contributing characters' backgrounds in this tale, Whitewolf weaves together a story that contrasts a sexy yet almost comedic love story with the threat of a vicious pack war. I highly recommend this novel for werewolf fantasy fans and paranormal romance readers ages 17 and up.
