A Magical Ruby Necklace Leads To Danger, Unexpected Reunions, & True Romance!
Overview: Lucy swoons when she’s presented with a beautiful ruby necklace by her handsome new beau, Pierre. But this gift comes with a catch, and all heck breaks loose in Liverpool when it’s discovered that Pierre actually pilfered the magical jewel from Albie Chan, the local Triad boss.
Book titles can often be misleading, and rather than finding a self-help book, which the name of this book seems to suggest, Author Chris Hall’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone” is an absorbing fast-paced action and adventure romance that’s nearly impossible to put down. Hall expertly weaves together a fascinating plotline involving several fascinating and complex characters while the action and danger written into this story is both dramatically and poignantly offset by what’s going on behind the scenes.
Hall’s characters may be a bit stereotypical—There’s the Chinese mob boss who covets a great treasure and will stop at nothing to get it; the Russian “doll” who’s determined to escape enslavement and abuse by a another ruthless crime-lord; the handsome but somewhat naive thief who can’t seem to understand that impressing his new girlfriend with the prize he was hired to procure would have serious repercussions; and the working-class Brit with a kleptomaniacal monkey who becomes a hero.
But, Hall’s story just winds together so, so well. The author keeps readers on their toes as they look for the answers to several intriguing mysteries, puzzling hidden threats, amazing backstories, surprise reunions, enduring love, and quite a few quirky and comical moments.
This story does contain adult situations, violence, and cussing, but no more than the average young adult romance. All in all, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” is a sweeping British romance with plenty of action and humor. I highly recommend this read for anyone, ages 17 and up, who loves action/adventure romances with endearing characters, amazing backstories, puzzling mysteries, and quirky characters. Enjoy.
