"Stolen Time (Community Chronicles Book 2)" by Jenn Lees - IHIBRP 5-Star Book Review

A Dystopian Scottish Time Travel Romance Filled With Action & Adventure!

Overview: In present-day Edinburgh, Scotland, nursing student Caitlin Murray unexpectedly finds herself falling for a Highlander, who seems to come out of nowhere, to rescue her from looters intent on raiding her wealthy uncle’s estate after a world financial collapse. The problem is... this stranger from the future claims to be her husband.

It sounds like an impossible task for an author to accomplish, but in her novel, “Stolen Time”, Jenn Lees successfully combines action, adventure, romance, a world run amok, a family saga, and—of all things... time-travel—in a captivating and suspenseful dystopian tale that’s set in the rugged Highlands of Scotland. Lees' intense and powerful plotline presents a pulse-pounding image of a world suddenly turned upside-down, even as she presents a compelling and provocative portrait of a pair of destined lovers determined to survive in the midst of a frightening and violent urban revolution.

The urgency of Author Lees’ two main characters—Caitlin and Scott—to distance themselves from the madness of the outside world instills a sense of codependency and intimacy between the two that, despite Caitlin's initial resistance, is necessary and, ultimately, quite touching. The pair’s relationship feels familiar as they become reacquainted with each other, but never rushed, and their romance blossoms out of a genuine liking and concern for one another. Lees’ protagonists, Scott and Caitlin, provide the perfect foils for one another, using their shared survival skills and mutual admiration for each other, to dodge danger at every turn and build a cozy yet isolated retreat from society. Readers will find Lees' formidable pairing not only creates a great team to help carry forward the future of humanity, along with the few peers they're able to gather along the way, but they also present a grave challenge to any foes who dare take them on.

“Stolen Time” is the second book in the Community Chronicles time travel romance series. Jenn Lees writes this tale in British English, using a Scottish conversational dialect that spices up her story and draws readers directly into the culture and flavor of the Highlands. This book does contain adult situations, strong language, and graphic violence. I highly recommend this read for anyone, ages 17 and up, who loves time travel/dystopian romances with plenty of action, adventure, and Scottish flair.

Congratulations to the author on this award-winning story! This novel will be permanently featured on my website at AuthorJBRichards.com under IHIBRP 5 Star Recommended Reads!
